June 17, 2022 In 1841, Captain Louttit sheltered in the bay during a storm; it was marked on his chart and became known as Louttit Bay. Painting is by Elizabeth Parsons, dated 1879. June 17, 1850 Monday January 28th, William Firth Lindsay, aged 8, and his brother Joseph Southwell Lindsay aged 4, were buried and died in a sand cave collapse on the banks of the Erskine River, near the Swing Bridge, and later buried on the bank above the river.
